Mission Statement
Friends of Fairview Woods is a 100% volunteer-led organization committed to the ecological restoration and ongoing care of Fairview Woods Wetlands Park and the surrounding forest. We focus on removing invasive species, restoring native plants, and improving safety and access through community-driven stewardship. Our goal is to protect this vital green space while creating opportunities for environmental education, hands-on involvement, and connection to nature—especially for nearby families and children.
We imagine Fairview Woods as a vibrant urban nature sanctuary—a place where wetlands thrive, wildlife returns, and neighbors feel safe, inspired, and connected. Our long-term vision includes boardwalks winding through wetlands, bird blinds and wildlife viewing areas, interactive trails, native gardens, natural play elements, and community gathering spaces. Guided by the input of local residents, our future is shaped by those who live closest to the park. Powered entirely by grants and community support, we believe stewardship belongs to everyone—and with shared ownership, the sky is the limit.
Friends of Fairview Woods does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, ability, veteran status or any other protected status. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our community, including volunteers, partners, and program participants.
